Clermont is served by West Highway 50, The Florida Turnpike & The East-West Expressway, and US Highway 27, so it’s easy to get anywhere in Central Florida quickly. The nearby, somewhat rural, residential communities of Montverde, Howey-In-The-Hills, Groveland, and Mascotte still provide that country charm if that is what you prefer in housing. Most of those areas have 1 to 5 acre lots available and several are set up for keeping horses. Clermont has some very pricey real estate around the lakefronts but there are many more reasonably priced communites available.

My favorite place in Clermont is the downtown area with all its little shops and businesses. The downtown area overlooks Lake Minneola and the downtown lakeshore park which is the site of a yearly big time triathlon meet drawing athletes from all over the world. Several marathons are also held here each year. In recognition of these stellar events, a new triathlon medicine and training center has recently opened and will serve athletes from many nations. If thinking about all that exercise makes you hungry, and you’re downtown, try the Clermont Pierhouse Restaurant for dinner. That’s where the locals go. However, if I’m out of downtown around the south shore of Lake Minnehaha, where its connected to Lake Susan, then I always stop for lunch at Lake Susan Lodge. It’s been there a long, long, time, but the food and view are the best. It’s very high on the list when the Harley riders get out in that part of Lake County.
